Viola and Cello, 3 minutes. First performance: July 2001 at the American Conservatory, Palais de Fontainebleau, Fontainebleau, France. A severely concise duet for solo viola and cello in three parts.
Christopher Hossfeld’s compositions have been performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington, D. C.), Yale and Harvard Universities, Jordan Hall (Boston, Massachusetts), the Toronto Music Garden, and concerts in Montreal and Ottawa. In 1998, he was the only composer of twenty Presidential Scholars in the Arts.
Hossfeld earned a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting from the Yale School of Music and a Bachelor’s in Music Composition from Harvard University, where he was a recipient of the Louis Sudler Award, given to a graduating student for excellence in the arts.

Chorus (SATB), 3 minutes. A song for a capella chorus on the poem by Rainer Maria Rilke, in German. This piece was written overlooking Penobscot Bay from Little Deer Isle, Maine.
Soprano and cello. 5 minutes. A setting of the poem by e. e. cummings. First performance: March 2000 at Harvard University by Kate Bennett and Susan Long, sponsored by the Harvard Radcliffe Contemporary Music Ensemble.
Tenor, flute, viola, and harp. 4 minutes. A setting of the poem by e. e. cummings. First performance: Spring 2000 at Harvard University as part of the Thelma Louise Goldberg Concert, a production of the Music Department.
